Women In Rock : Gwen Stefani

Women In Rock : Gwen Stefani

From harajuku, to indian, rock chic and classic, Gwen Stefani from time to time, has been changing so many looks, that reminds me of a chameleon. She has the magic ability to adjust and transform her style (as well as her music too), setting trends and selling hits.

Her fashion sense, and the making of her own stage outfits, led her to design her own clothing line L.A.M.B. -initials for “Love. Angel. Music. Baby, the title of her first solo album”-, which is mostly influenced by Japanese styles and harajuku streetwear.

Her stage outfits, mostly combined baggy jeans, bras or crop tops, bindi (indian forehead jewelry), hoodies, red lipstick and curly hair.

Gwen, has been accused of being a copycat of Madonna (by Madonna herself), but hey Madonna is a copycat of Marylin. Everyone copies someone. Who cares? I love her energy and powerful voice, so if she dyed her hair like Madonna’s , couldn’t care less.

Gwen Renee Stefani, has been active in the music scene since 1986, when she first provided vocals to the newly formed band No Doubt. Since then, and as a permanent member of No Doubt, Gwen collaborated with many world known artists like Sublime,Moby, Eve and producers like The Neptunes and New Order.

The starting point of her career, and the breakthrough of her band was their signing to Interscope Records in 1991. Since then, Gwen Stefani and her bandmates have totally sold over 40 million records worldwide.
No Doubt, after a long hiatus got back together in 2009 and are preparing to release a new album with influences of rock, ska and reggae.

Let’s take a trip down the memory lane to remember this amazing song by No Doubt :
